ExpoActual, Around Art and CUMEDIAE win Tender in the Valorisation of the European Parliament’s Art Collection Description: A consortium led by ExpoActual (Madrid, Spain), and including Around Art (Madrid, Spain), and Culture & Media Agency Europe aisbl - CUMEDIAE (Brussels, Belgium), was announced to be the selected tender in charge of valorizing the European Parliament’s collection of artworks. The project aims at drafting an accurate report on how better preserve, display and make the European Parliament’s existing collection accessible to the European citizens in general and to those working at and visiting the Parliament in particular. The collection, formed through the years by way of acquisitions and donations, displays artworks from all the EU Member states. An international team made up of cultural professionals and experts will assess the collection’s artistic depth, the current treatment and display of the artworks to develop an effective working model for its future management and presentation. The team will also examine the best practices in art management by the EU Member States’ National Parliaments, all of which have important art collections, as well as the different models and methods they adopt to integrate artworks in their activities vis-à-vis the general public. This comprehensive analysis, scheduled to be delivered by the end of July 2013, will take into account the European Parliament’s inherent values, nature and principles. ExpoActual, Around Art and CUMEDIAE will put their expertise at the service of the institution so that it can make the best use of its collection and its solid artistic merits as a symbol of both cultural diversity in Europe and the importance of culture in the building of the European project.
