I write to say simply how great you were in your many intertwined roles. It was truly a pleasure as well as edifying to travel with you, and you handled everything and everyone with such aplomb. The itinerary was fantastic and took us to places that will remain etched in memory – even after the details are long forgotten. I won’t try to recapitulate, but you gave us an unparalleled insider’s view – from Barcelona terrace apartments, to literary foundations, to ducal houses, with your excellent historical narrative weaving them together. Ellen Patz had a dinner party for some of the travelers to Spain and it was fun to reminisce over the good (and rainy) days of our trip. You have definitely won many hearts. How can I say thank you to you to all your plans in the itinerary you made for us, we drove from highlight to highlight, phenomenal ! and your dear friend Coco is a wonderful charming family-member of all of us now ! Thank you so much to include the private homes and gardens of your friends, where we felt so very much welcomed being just friends of you! Your choices of hotels and restaurants were magnificent, we liked them all and admire your brilliant ideas to find all this just for us. I apologize for this long delay in writing to thank you for the superb trip that you organized for The Frick Collection. Today I finished writing thank you notes to all of our hosts and hostesses, and, as I wrote them, I relived the trip, realizing how wonderful it was from beginning to end. You were a paragon of patience, perfect organization, kindness, and good humor. All of the participants in the trip have either written or called to tell me how much they loved it; Fred Koch said that it was “the best one yet”. For all of this we owe you a great vote of thanks. Personally, I enjoyed traveling with you and appreciated your remarkable command of art history and European history, along with the practical side of life.
